No More Plastic Bags By 2025

PITTSBURGH —
Giant Eagle is eyeing a future without plastic bags, and for several stores, it begins Wednesday.
Some Giant Eagle stores are part of a six-month pilot program that eliminates single-use plastic bags.

As an alternative, reusable bags will be sold for 99 cents. Paper bags will cost a dime.

For a limited time, a "one perk per reusable bag used" promotion will be available to customers who bring their own bags.
The program is being tested at Giant Eagle's Waterworks Market District store in the Pittsburgh area, as well as at stores in Cuyahoga County and Bexley, Ohio.
According to a press release, Giant Eagle is committed to phasing out the blue-colored plastic bags in all city of Pittsburgh stores "in the coming months."
Giant Eagle aims to eliminate single-use plastics by 2025.
