Boston trains collide, leaving at least 25 hurt, authorities say | Fox News

A collision between two Boston passenger trains Friday evening left at least 25 people with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The Green Line trains crashed near Babcock Street around 6 p.m. ET, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) said in a statement.

Miltch Pierre, who works at a nearby Blaze Pizza, told FOX 25 he felt the ground start shaking while he was making pizzas.

“Everything started shaking over there and when I looked over, I was just a bunch of smoke. … I saw someone holding their neck. One girl had blood all over her face and her chin. Pretty gruesome.”

Wildfires in southern Turkey leave 3 dead, 58 hospitalized

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkish authorities on Thursday began investigating the cause of a string of forest fires in Turkey’s Mediterranean and southern Aegean regions, including two near the coastal resort town of Manavgat that killed three people and sent over 50 others to the hospital as homes burned down.

A wildfire that broke out Wednesday in Manavgat, in Antalya province, and was fanned by strong winds and scorching temperatures, was largely contained, Agriculture and Forestry Minister Bekir Pakdemirli said. But another fire that started overnight and swept through the district of Akseki, 50 kilometers (30 miles) north, kept firefighters engaged.

Three people were killed in those fires, and authorities evacuated nearly 20 neighborhoods or villages.

The Antalya region is a popular vacation destination for tourists from Russia and other parts of Europe.

Fires also broke out Thursday in 16 other locations, including in the Icmeler region, close to the resort of Marmaris, 320 kilometers (200 miles) west of Antalya, that briefly threatened holiday homes and hotels. A hotel in the Aegean beach resort of Guvercinlik, near the town of Bodrum, was also evacuated, Pakdemirli said.

Suspect shoots Pittsburgh U-Haul employee, leads police on chase along Rt. 28 – WPXI

PITTSBURGH — An employee at a U-Haul facility in Pittsburgh’s Larimer neighborhood was shot in the neck and the suspect took off in a U-Haul truck before being arrested along Route. 28, according to police.

Investigators said the shooting happened at the U-Haul rental store on Washington Boulevard around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The employee was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police said they were able to find the suspect fleeing in a U-Haul truck on Route 28. During a brief pursuit, the suspect fired a weapon at another vehicle. A police vehicle was hit during the chase and an officer suffered a minor leg injury as a result.

The chase ended near the 31st Street Bridge when the U-Haul truck was damaged. The suspect was then taken into custody.

Trib Live Reports:

A carjacking and shooting near a U-Haul facility in Pittsburgh spurred a police chase that culminated in an arrest made on Route 28 during rush-hour traffic Tuesday evening, initial reports indicate.

A Pittsburgh officer was injured when the suspect’s stolen rental truck struck him in the leg during the pursuit, police said. The officer’s injury was described as minor, and city public safety officials said he transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Pittsburgh Public Safety officials told Trib news partner WPXI-TV that during the carjacking, an employee at the U-Haul dealer on Washington Boulevard in the city’s Larimer neighborhood was shot in the neck.

The wounded employee was rushed by medics to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Shortly after 4:30 p.m., emergency dispatchers received a request for police, fire and ambulance support along Route 28 near the 31st Street Bridge, an Allegheny County 911 shift commander told the Tribune-Review. The dispatcher confirmed that the dozens of police cars swarming the highway and re-routing passing drivers were there in connection to an incident involving police in Larimer.

During the pursuit, the suspect shot at a civilian vehicle, according to city public safety officials. The vehicle was hit but the driver was not injured.

A Pittsburgh police SUV with a badly damaged rear-end was parked along the highway. A bit farther south, a smashed-up U-Haul pickup truck was wedged against the highway’s barrier.

The suspect who was arrested and taken into custody was not immediately identified. All lanes of Route 28 were reopened before 6 p.m.

Police have not released further details.

Hunter Biden’s art dealer said he wanted to be the ‘lead guy in China’ in 2015 | Fox News

Georges Berges, who is representing Hunter Biden as he ventures into the art world, has talked about his business dealings in China in the past, but his reported ties could pose an ethics issue as he sells Biden’s art to anonymous buyers.

A representative for Berges previously told Fox News that the sales of Biden’s art will be kept “confidential.” The White House has said they have an ethics plan in place to ensure the president’s son doesn’t know who buyers are, though Hunter has raised eyebrows with plans to attend art shows where potential buyers will be in attendance.

HUNTER BIDEN STILL OWNS STAKE IN CHINESE INVESTMENT FIRM

Berges said in a 2015 interview with Resident that he wanted to be the art world’s leader in China.

“My plan is to be the lead guy in China; the lead collector and art dealer discovering and nurturing talent from that region,” Berges said. “I plan to find and discover and bring to the rest of the world those I consider China’s next generation of modern artists.”

He also said that that he believes “China’s economy is transforming the global economy and everything is changing because of a rising China,” and that he was fascinated by “cultural impact” China is “having on the world.”

Biden calls reporter ‘pain in the neck’ for question about Veterans Affairs COVID-19 vaccine mandate | Fox News

President Biden called a reporter a ‘pain in the neck’ Monday in the Oval Office for asking him a question that was off his preferred topic of Iraq.

Sitting in the Oval Office with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi, Biden smiled as NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell asked him to comment on Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough’s announcement that front-line VA workers would be required to get a coronavirus vaccine.

“You are such a pain in the neck, but I’m going to answer your question because we’ve known each other for so long,” he said. “It has nothing to do with Iraq … I’ll answer your question. Yes, Veteran Affairs is going to, in fact, require that all doctors working in their facilities are going to have to be vaccinated.”

Biden was genial with O’Donnell, but he has lashed out in the past at reporters over questions he finds unfair or unfounded. Last month, he snapped at CNN’s Kaitlan Collins for a question about Russian President Vladimir Putin, telling her she was in the “wrong business” at one point, and he also had sharp replies on the subject of his son Hunter Biden throughout 2020.

Biden has at times been criticized since he took office for being too scripted and expecting questions to be on his topic of choice. He’s lately been more loose with his words, such as when he had to walk back remarks to reporters that Facebook was “killing people” because it allowed the publication of misleading information about coronavirus vaccines.

One White House reporter anonymously told journalist Julia Ioffe earlier this month that Democrats generally expect the media to take their side and are more “thin-skinned” than Republicans as a result.

Politicians lead backlash to renewed mask mandate in St. Louis and St. Louis County

ST. LOUIS COUNTY — Political opposition to a new mask mandate in St. Louis and St. Louis County appears to be building, with several state and local politicians vowing to stop the public health orders set to go into effect on Monday.

The new orders — a response to the resurgence of deadly COVID-19 cases and pleas from area hospital officials — will require most people, both vaccinated and unvaccinated, to wear masks in indoor spaces and on public transportation. People in the city and county also will be urged, but not required, to wear masks outdoors, especially in group settings.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, Wildwood Mayor Jim Bowlin, and St. Louis County Councilmen Tim Fitch, R-3rd District, and Mark Harder, R-7th District, are among politicians voicing opposition to the new orders.

Fitch said he wants County Executive Sam Page’s administration to explain the reasoning for the proposed mandate, and said he is prepared to ask the council to rescind the public health order.

Harder also signaled support on Saturday for council action.

“Many bipartisan state representatives and senators in the region feel the same way. That is why they passed House Bill 271 to give councils like ours the ability to push back on these health orders,” Harder said in an email to the Post-Dispatch. HB 271, which was signed last month by Gov. Mike Parson, limits the time frame local health orders can be in effect without approval from local elected officials.

Schmitt, who is running for the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, announced Friday he plans to file a lawsuit on Monday to block the city and county from enforcing the renewed mandate.

1 dead, another injured after crane tips over in Philadelphia

One man was pronounced dead and another injured after a crane toppled over at a Philadelphia construction site.

One man was pronounced dead and another injured after a crane toppled over at a Philadelphia construction site. Police said the accident happened Tuesday night in the University City section.

The crane reportedly fell over with one worker inside the cab and another trapped under the equipment. According to fire officials, heavy equipment was being moved off a tractor-trailer to a job site when the crane fell.

One fire commissioner said it helped emergency teams that the event happened at night due to high traffic in the area during the day. However, he said “there were two individuals that were hurt here, that’s still tragic in the same.”

Both men were eventually taken to the hospital where one man was pronounced dead and the other’s condition is currently unknown. The area remained closed on Wednesday as investigators evaluated the scene.
